To start the A Mother’s Plea quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker, head to Uriash Village, located northwest of the Rockfalls region near the edge of the map. This side quest only unlocks after you complete these quests: A Study in Crimson, A Friend Like This, and Song of the Mountain.

Once you reach the Uriash Village, you need to speak to the Uriash Matriarch named Bakr-Erga. She will plead with you to find her daughter, Bakr-Ocha, who should become the next Elder of the village.

The only clue you will get about Ocha’s whereabouts is that she is in one of the taverns in Svartrau City.

Once you reach Svartrau City, you will have to find Ocha in three taverns. As the image above shows, Ocha will be in this exact tavern, so you do not need to search other taverns around the city.

When you approach her, she will be quite aggressive and immediately start a fistfight with you right outside the tavern. You need to defeat her to unlock the next stage of A Mother’s Plea quest.

After the fight, you need to speak with Ocha and her human friend, Nora. They both have issues with Andrei, a crime boss who runs the streets of the city. They ask you to sneak into Andrei’s hideout to steal one of his mementos. Ocha will then use her abilities to cast a hex on Andrei through the memento.

This is where you start “The Heart Wants What It Wants” sub-quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker. This quest will have multiple approaches and outcomes, based on how you enter and interact with NPCs.

If you want to keep Ocha and Nora alive, you need to head to the butcher’s shop, a front for Andrei’s illicit activities. You can go to the butcher’s stall during the day and activate Focus Mode to look for a beggar who’s sitting on the street and pay him 50 denarii for information. Then, tell the butcher that you have some silver to sell.

The butcher will take you to Andrei’s hideout, where you have to be stealthy and avoid aggressive/hostile reply options. If your comments result in a fight and you end up killing Andrei, Ocha will be angry since you went against her plan. However, you can still talk to Ocha and make her go home, which is the primary objective of the quest.

After you kill Andrei, Ocha will arrive at the scene and will be angry that you killed everyone and that there is no need for a boss in the city anymore. She then asks you to meet near the river to talk.

This next conversation will be important, since one dialogue path will result in Ocha staying in the city, while the other will lead to her going home to her mother.

Here are the dialogue choices with different outcomes:

First choice:

  • “Do you miss home?” – Go back home.
  • “Do you like the city?” – Stay in the city.

Second choice:

  • “New things can be exciting, sure.” – Stay in the city.
  • “Meh. Nothing better than homemade food.” – Go back home.

Third choice:

  • “Our neighbors helped a bit.” – Stay in the city.
  • “Other villagers just cared about themselves.” – Go back home.

You need to pick all three “home” responses to convince her to return to her village. After the conversation, The Heart Wants What It Wants quest will end, and you will receive 250 XP, 150 denarii, and the Broad Swing Manual.
