Minnesota Wild stars Quinn Hughes and Brock Faber shared their thoughts on the Round 2 elimination by the Colorado Avalanche in Game 5 on Wednesday. The Wild’s playoff campaign has officially ended.
Despite taking a 3-0 advantage in the opening period, the Wild could not hold off the Avalanche’s offense, squandering the lead and eventually losing in overtime. The Avalanche clinched the series 4-1.
Reflecting on the defeat, Quinn Hughes spoke with class and admiration for the Avalanche in his post-game presser:
“This one stings. Love the guys. Love the coaching staff. The whole organization. Yeah, I mean this one really stings. I just felt like we had a really good team. You get through these guys, you never know. But if we had to lose, you want to lose to these guys. These guys are the best. Presidents’ Trophy. So, yeah, it stings right now just because I feel like we had a really great team,” Quinn Hughes said.
Brock Faber also shared his thoughts on the defeat:
“They deserved to win this series, plain and simple. And, yeah, that’s just where it gets frustrating, right? Because when we are at our absolute best, I think we can beat this team. They were just more consistent. I feel like they outplayed us most of the series, which that’s just how it is—that’s just plain and simple,” Fabrer said.
He added:
“You can’t really hide or dance around the fact that they outplayed us, but like I said, that’s where the frustration comes in. I feel like when we are at our best, we can beat that team. We just didn’t, and they deserved to win.”
