Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will get out to a bouncer and narrowly misses out on his fifty in Duleep Trophy 2026 Final [Watch] 

East Zone opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was dismissed off a bouncer by South Zone bowler Chama V Milind on Day 1 (Sunday, September 6) of the Duleep Trophy 2026 final. The contest is underway at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The dismissal came off the fourth ball of the 15th over of East Zone’s first innings. Milind bowled a 129 kmph short delivery, and the left-hander went for the pull but miscued his shot. Substitute fielder Tanay Thyagarajan ran to his right from deep square leg and completed a fine catch.

The southpaw missed out on a half-century, falling for 44 off 37 balls, including five fours and a six. His dismissal left the East Zone at 100/1 after 14.4 overs.


Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Abhimanyu Easwaran put East Zone on front foot in Duleep Trophy final

East Zone captain Ishan Kishan won the toss and chose to bat first. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made a brisk start before launching an attack on Mohammed Siraj in the seventh over, hitting the pacer for two fours and a six to collect 14 runs from it.

Meanwhile, Abhimanyu Easwaran also batted with intent as East Zone reached 70/0 after 10 overs, with Sooryavanshi on 38 off 30 balls and the former on 32 off 30. Easwaran brought up his half-century in the 14th over with a couple, reaching the milestone off 46 balls.

The opening pair eventually added 100 runs off 88 balls before Sooryavanshi was dismissed for 44 off 37 deliveries by Chama V Milind in the 15th over.

Shikhar Mohan then joined Easwaran at the crease at No. 3 and kept the scoreboard ticking. At the time of writing, East Zone were 120/1 after 19 overs, with Easwaran batting on 65 off 69 balls and Mohan on 10 off nine.
