The Zealot is an Arcana Card that Rose can acquire in Castlevania Belmont’s Curse by defeating Isaac in the Heart of the Clock inside the Clock Tower. While you encounter the boss fairly early on in the game, you don’t get the Arcana this time around. When you encounter Isaac for the second time in the Clock Tower, you can defeat him and acquire The Zealot Arcana.
In this guide, we will break down how to defeat Isaac and get The Zealot Arcana in Castlevania Belmont’s Curse.
Castlevania Belmont’s Curse: How to find The Zealot Arcana
To get The Zealot Arcana, you need to track back to the Clock Tower and enter the Heart of the Clock, a sub-section within it. This is the second encounter with Isaac, the devil Forgemaster in Castlevania Belmont’s Curse.
Here are the steps that you must follow in order to face the true Isaac boss in Castlevania Belmont’s Curse:
1) Progress through the game until you have unlocked the Clock Tower, but you will need specific items to unlock the path.

2) You will need to get The Shadow Arcana, by defeating Death at Notre-Dame. However to enter Notre Dame you will need to get The Artist Arcana from Brauner and Brauner’s Paintbrush.
3) Start the journey from the Clock Tower Bridge and go through Clock Keeper’s Atrium, the Bridge of Haste, and the Eastern Summit. From there cross The Gauntlet to finally reach the Steps of Time.
4) Climb up the long staircase and go onto the raised walkway directly opposite of the massive clockface.
Here a cutscene will play that will eventually start the true Isaac boss fight.
How to defeat Isaac and obtain The Zealot Arcana
The Isaac boss fight is fairly tricky. Isaac fights on a balcony in front of a large clock face. You can also use the lower section of the railing to avoid incoming attacks. Isaac’s skill set includes spear throws, spear charges, clones, and beam.
Isaac will reverse time to heal himself fully four times, whenever you drop his health to zero during the fight.

Here are some tactics that you can use in the fight against Isaac:
- Avoid attacking Isaac while he is maintaining his parry stance. Attacking him during his parry stance triggers a counterattack that deals massive damage.
- Use Jump or Dash to dodge his spear charges. This also gives you a brief chance to attack him from behind.
- Isaac will also throw multiple small spears towards you, parry them to avoid taking any damage. In the later phases, Isaac starts throwing larger spears which are easier to dodge but they deal far greater damage to Rose.
- When Isaac summons his clones, dash through them and look for the real one rather than engaging the clones.
- Occasionally Isaac will unleash beams both vertically and horizontally simultaneously. If you are near the wall use it to jump over the beams. You can also slip into the bottom section of the balcony to avoid the beams.
The best time to attack Isaac is during his recovery period, every time he uses his spear charges and beam attacks he will stop momentarily. Use this time to attack him.
Note that the more damage Isaac takes, the more aggressive he becomes, introducing rapid succession attacks.
What rewards do you get for defeating Isaac
You get two specific rewards for defeating Isaac in Castlevania Belmont’s Curse: The Zealot Arcana which grants Rose the Chronomantic Dive spell and the legendary Chauve-Souris spear.

Chronomantic Dive is specifically useful as it launches Rose high in the air before she slams on to the ground causing a cross-shaped green blaze that deals damage to anyone in the vicinity. The spell also slows time momentarily, allowing you to control and assess the dangers nearby.

The Chauve-Souris legendary spear is also special as it is capable of chasing more than one target when thrown, making it effective against multiple enemies. So do not forget to pick it up before leaving.
