WWE: 4 Biggest winners and losers from WrestleMania 42 Night 1

WrestleMania 42 Night One is already in the history books, and the WWE Universe can’t just stop buzzing about it. The Showcase of the Immortals featured high-stakes drama, massive returns, and shocking betrayals that thrilled fans.

That said, let’s take a look at the four biggest winners and losers from WrestleMania 42 Night One:

Biggest WrestleMania Night 1 Winners

#4. Jacob Fatu

After months of being in an intensive feud with Drew McIntyre, Jacob Fatu eventually earned a bout against The Scottish Psychopath at WrestleMania 42.

It was a big night for Fatu in Las Vegas, as he emerged victorious on Night One in his Unsanctioned match, where he managed to pin Drew McIntyre, proving why he is perhaps one of the most terrifying forces on SmackDown.

It was a hard-hitting battle, as both competitors used everything from toolboxes to iPhones as weapons. Arguably, the thrilling moment came when Fatu performed a powerful top-rope moonsault, sending McIntyre crashing through a table to secure the pinfall.

Given this victory, the Samoan Werewolf has seemingly established himself as a serious contender for future main event matches.

#3. Becky Lynch

At WrestleMania 42 Night One, Becky Lynch pinned AJ Lee and regained the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship. Since her return, AJ has dominated Lynch numerous times in the ring. Lee even defeated The Man at the Elimination Chamber in February to win the title.

Following the earlier loss, Becky eventually got her rematch at The Showcase of the Immortals. For the first time, Lynch was able to overcome The Black Widow. She then deployed an underhanded trick to steal the victory.

With this win, the Irish star has become a three-time IC Champion with the workhorse title, further solidifying her legacy as one of the greatest female performers in WWE history.

#2. Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes has been in an intense rivalry with his former mentor, Randy Orton, on SmackDown. This started after Rhodes regained the Undisputed WWE Championship from Drew McIntyre to emerge as The Viper’s opponent at WrestleMania 42. Their match was the headliner of Night One.

After a chaotic sequence where original referee Charles Robinson was knocked out, Pat McAfee entered to officiate. Randy Orton became frustrated when McAfee did not count fast enough despite an RKO on Rhodes.

In a moment of rage, The Viper then RKO’d McAfee. The distraction allowed The American Nightmare to capitalize on a distracted Orton, landing the Cross Rhodes to secure the win and retain the title.

While the post-match Punt Kick from The Viper left Cody in a heap, the fact remains: Rhodes walked into WrestleMania as champion and walked out with the gold still around his waist.

#1. Liv Morgan

Liv Morgan has been on a roll since her return late last year. She won the 2026 Women’s Royal Rumble Match to earn a world title match against Stephanie Vaquer at WrestleMania 42.

At the event, Morgan dethroned Vaquer to reclaim the Women’s World Championship for a third time. Although Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez interfered in the match to assist The Miracle Kid, the latter’s quick victory in under seven minutes sent a strong message.

With The Judgment Day behind her, it seems like a long and dominant reign as the Women’s World Champion for Liv Morgan.

Biggest WrestleMania Night 1 Losers

#4. Pat McAfee

Last night’s incidents at WrestleMania 42 are something Pat McAfee might not forget in a hurry. During the main event match between Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes, McAfee attempted to assist Orton to win the Undisputed WWE Championship.

However, the former NFL Punter’s plan backfired completely. His interference not only failed to help Orton win, but it also resulted in him taking a powerful RKO as a consequence.

To make matters worse, following the pre-match stipulations, McAfee is likely gone from the Stamford-based promotion for good.

#3. Stephanie Vaquer

Stephanie Vaquer has achieved significant success since her WWE main roster debut. However, it appears her first match at WrestleMania didn’t end as she planned.

In the shortest match of the night, Vaquer lost her Women’s World Championship to Liv Morgan. While The Judgment Day used its numbers game against La Primera, losing her world title in such a short time on The Grandest Stage of Them All is a bitter pill to swallow for a competitor of her caliber.

Vaquer might need to regroup quickly to prove she belongs at the top of the division.

#2. & #1. Bayley and Lyra Valkyria

Considering how Bayley was screwed out of her match last year at WrestleMania, many fans expected her and Lyra Valkyria to walk out of ‘Mania 42 as the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.

However, that was not the case. The chaos of a Fatal Four-Way match prevented that from happening. Instead, Brie Bella and a returning Paige emerged victorious.

The Role Model and Valkyria are now left to find their own path again to the top of the women’s tag team division.
