WWE: Major Update on Sheamus after six-month WWE absence

Sheamus is a former World Champion and someone who was regularly featured on WWE RAW until November last year.

It seems that the Celtic Warrior has been sidelined for more than six months after suffering a shoulder injury in the fall of 2025. It was recently revealed by Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select Answers that Sheamus was forced to undergo surgery, and as of writing, there is no timetable for his return.

The Irish star is someone who has come into the conversation several times when it comes to Gunther and his Career Killer persona, since the two men famously had one of the greatest matches on UK soil back at Clash at the Castle in 2022.

Gunther named Sheamus as someone he wants to retire

Fans are asking about his whereabouts after Gunther recently named him as someone he wants to retire the most, whilst speaking with Main Event Club. It seems that the two men have some history following their infamous collision almost four years ago.

“The thing with Brock is for publicity and is perfect. Sheamus, it’s a personal matter. I want to retire him. Subjectively, they are all good choices. On the main roster, Sheamus was my first big opponent, and he beat me up a lot. He made me earn it. I hope I can kick his ass on the way out.” he revealed.

While Brock Lesnar vs Gunther is a dream match for many fans after the duo already teased it as part of the Royal Rumble, it seems that the Celtic Warrior is someone that Gunther wants to get back in the ring with.

His list of names also included Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, and CM Punk, who could all be set to walk away from the company in the next five years, with Gunther eagerly pushing to see them through the door.

Gunther has already retired Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles, so it appears that his career-killer persona could continue in the coming years. Several legends and stars will be leaving the business in the future, and someone like Gunther could ensure that it is a heavily debated departure.
