“You So Raw”: Angel Reese Gets Love From Wendell Carter Jr., Caitlin Clark’s Teammate and More as She Reflects On Her Grind Before FIBA World Cup

Angel Reese received heartfelt messages from Orlando Magic forward Wendell Carter Jr., Caitlin Clark’s former teammate DeWanna Bonner and more ahead of her first appearance at the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup.

On Wednesday, the Dream star shared a bunch of pictures on her Instagram before she donned the USA jersey in Berlin.

“It’s finally my time, look what grindin did for me. I wasn’t doing no cryin’, I was just telling my story. I play the hand I was dealt, I’m quick to adapt, I play the game how it go. I’M A HUSTLER BABY, look what grindin did for me,” she wrote.

Carter Jr., Bonner and others expressed their support in the comments section.

Angel Reese will be playing in her first FIBA World Cup as the USA enters the tournament as the defending champions. She is expected to play a big role on the squad after A’ja Wilson withdrew from the tournament, citing health reasons.

Angel Reese praises Breanna Stewart as the ‘one who paved the way’ for the younger generation

Angel Reese showered Breanna Stewart with praise in an interview with FIBA basketball before the tournament began. She credited the Liberty star Breanna Stewart for inspiring her generation to pursue international glory.

“I think Stewie is one who has paved the way for a lot of us. She has won a lot of gold medals, so I’m excited to be able to play with her and be here with her,” she said.

“It means a lot because she pours into all of us. She’s always there. She’s such a great teammate and such a great veteran for us. It’s just really cool to continue to see her journey thrive.”

Reese is heading into the international tournament in a great groove. She is averaging 16.1 points, 12.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game on 43.7% shooting.

Team USA will play its first game of the tournament against China on Friday. The game will tip off at 8:15 a.m. ET and will stream on DAZN and Courtside 1891.
