AEW is set to host their annual cross-promotional event alongside New Japan Pro-Wrestling, CMLL and World Wonder Ring STARDOM called the Forbidden Door. The event will culminate from the SAP Center in San Jose, California on Sunday 28th June. Ahead of the event, the Tony Khan led promotion’s Women’s World Champion Thekla recently went off at STARDOM’s President Taro Okada during the latest episode of Collision: Summer Blockbuster.
Before becoming a major name in All Elite Wrestling’s Women’s roster, the Toxic Spider made a big name for herself in Japan. She was one of the biggest heels in World Wonder Ring STARDOM and spent a lot of time leading or being a part of villainous stables. Her run in STARDOM is best known for her time as the Idol Killer with Oedo Tai and H.A.T.E. stables. In 2025, she attacked the promotion’s President Taro Okada which led to her getting fired in kayfabe. She joined Tony Khan’s All Elite Wrestling stable back in May last year.
In a very short amount of time, the Toxic Spider rose to prominence in the Jacksonville-based company. She defeated Kris Statlander to capture the AEW Women’s World Championship in a Strap match on the February 11 edition of Dynamite. Since then, she has defended her title on several occasions against stars like Statlander, Jamie Hayter and Hikaru Shida. As the Forbidden Door pay-per-view draws closer, Thekla has been very vocal about her animosity for STARDOM.
She recently spit on STARDOM’s logo during an episode of Dynamite to disrespect the company. On the latest episode of Collision: Summer Blockbuster, she stood on the announcer’s desk and started verbally bashing Okada. She stated how Okada was the one who fired her from STARDOM and how she’s the AEW Women’s World Champion now. She also issued an open challenge to anyone from the Japanese company’s roster to face her at Forbidden Door for her Women’s World title.
“STARDOM. You had me. You FIRED me, but baby look at me now!” She said.
Thekla’s recent actions and statements have a created a lot of buzz on the internet among fans.
Thekla will face Starlight Kid at AEW Forbidden Door 2026
During her promo on this past week’s episode of Collision, the Toxic Spider stated that her spit is worth more than anything on STARDOM’s roster. She also laid down a challenge for anyone from the company to challenge for her title at the upcoming Forbidden Door event. The challenge has finally been answered by the Japanese company’s Starlight Kid.
Both women have a long history with each other from Thekla’s time in STARDOM. Starlight actually beat her once back when they worked for the same company. STARDOM’s President Taro Okada will probably be in attendance for the show in San Jose after Thekla personally invited him.
Fans are excited to see if Thekla will be able to successfully defend her AEW Women’s World Championship at Forbidden Door.
