“I lick his face” – 42-year-old star reveals motive behind bizarre WWE debut second

A 42-year-old star has revealed the reason behind his weird WWE debut moment. For many stars, the biggest challenge is to stand out from the crowd and get over using a unique moveset or entrance.

But former WWE tag team champion Dexter Lumis, aka Samuel Shaw, had a different thing in mind. Lumis made his WWE NXT debut on the July 17, 2019, episode of the show, and his actions caught attention.

During the match, he put his opponent Bronson Reed in a headlock and then licked his face. Recently, he appeared for an interview on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, where he was asked about licking his opponents.

He confirmed that Road Dogg had told him to lick his opponents during training, and it carried over to his NXT debut. Lumis said his actions worked with the character he was playing.

“Yes, it did because people were unsure. What’s this guy all about? What’s going on here? I think my debut match on TV and in NXT was at Full Sail, and it was against Bronson Reed. I’m beating the h*ll out of him, and he’s sitting on his a**, and I just got him and grabbed his head, and then I just look at everybody, and I lick his face, and the whole crowd was just like, ‘Oh!’” he said.

According to the former Wyatt Sicks member, it was all about getting a reaction from the crowd and being different.

“Sometimes you pinpoint somebody in the crowd, and you just watch them. Garner a reaction. I was taught to always go above and beyond; we can always pull it back. That was pulled back a little bit,” he added.

WWE released the entire Wyatt Sicks

Dexter Lumis was released by WWE in 2022 but returned to the promotion a few months later.

After a run as a singles star, he was put in the newly formed Wyatt Sicks faction. As part of the faction, he won the tag team championship with Joe Gacy on SmackDown.

The stable was featured in a prominent feud with the MFTs on the blue brand heading into WrestleMania 42.

However, on April 24, the entire faction was released by the promotion as part of the roster cuts.
