Overview
The gameplay style of Sell a Million Sushi is quite simplistic, making it easy to get into for all players. Its gameplay loop includes four steps: hire fishermen, collect fish, deposit fish at the cooking station, and collect the money. Every other mechanic in the game is in service to this core gameplay loop.
Each of the four steps is tackled in a way similar to tycoon-style experiences. You can step on buttons to perform these actions, which keeps the game free of extensive menus. Once you have enough Cash, hire additional fishermen and purchase upgrades to improve your Cash flow.
Try to unlock the rarest fish species to maximize your overall Cash flow and become the most profitable Sushi restaurant on the server.

Gameplay features and tips
- Merging fishermen: Fishermen can only catch a certain type of fish. Once you hire three fishermen, you can merge them to create a fisherman that can catch fish of a higher rarity. This is an incremental process; three tier 1 fishermen can be merged into one tier 2 fisherman, three tier 2 fishermen into one tier 3 fisherman, and so on. The highest fisherman tier is 24, which means that you must hire dozens upon dozens of fishermen to get the best fisherman. It’s also worth noting that you don’t directly influence the type of fish you get outside of fisherman merging.
- Upgrades: You can upgrade your chef to generate more Cash per second. Step on the button next to the chef’s station to upgrade your chef, improving the rate at which they can serve customers. This is not as integral to your Cash generation as fisherman merging, so feel free to check on this every once in a while.
- Batch-hiring fishermen: Once your Cash generation capabilities are sufficiently high, you can hire fishermen in bulk, allowing you to instantly merge them into high-tier options. Merging automatically takes fishermen into the highest tier. For example, if you hire 12 fishermen, stepping on the Merge button will create one tier 3 fisherman instead of giving you three tier 2 fishermen. This can streamline progression quite a bit in the late-game territory.
