TikTok continues to gain momentum in the EU, with the platform’s latest EU DSA disclosure statement showing that it now has 189 million monthly active users in the region.

Under the EU Digital Services Act, all large online platforms need to provide biannual updates on total users and moderation staff, as well as rule violations and suspensions.

TikTok’s August update showed that it added 9 million more EU users in the first half of 2026.

TikTok EU user data

As shown in this graph, TikTok continues to gain traction with EU users, maintaining steady audience growth in the region.

Though it’s not quite as many as TikTok itself claimed last September, when it published a blog post to announce that the platform had reached 200 million EU users.

Based on these official numbers, it hasn’t reached that milestone quite yet, though it is closing on that next big number in the region.

For context, TikTok’s global audience is split as follows:

TikTok is still banned in India and restricted in Russia, and it’s not available in China, where there’s a local version of the app.

These numbers give some scope to the expanding presence of the short-form video app, which has risen to become a key player in the social media landscape, and continues to gain traction in many markets.

In terms of other elements of TikTok’s latest DSA report, the platform said that it removed around 104 million uploads which had violated its policies in the first half of 2026, with 94.1% of those removals happening via automated means without human review.

On that front, TikTok added an extra 64 human moderators in the EU, versus its reported staffing numbers from the second half of 2025. Though it has also significantly reduced its human moderation workforce over time.

In October 2024, TikTok reported having 6,354 human moderators covering the EU region. In this latest update, it reported 3,738 members on its moderation staff.

Overall, these DSA disclosure numbers provide insight into the rise of TikTok, and its ongoing appeal, as the platform continues to expand.
