Philadelphia Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber has largely played the 2026 season as a designated hitter. However, Phillies manager Don Mattingly moved Schwarber to first base for Saturday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Although Schwarber has made limited appearances in the infield this season, the veteran Phillies slugger tracked Blue Jays’ Jesus Sanchez for a tag in the sixth inning. Schwarber kept patting Sanchez on the back after the tag.

Kyle Schwarber extended his hitting streak to three games after going 1-for-3 against the Blue Jays on Saturday. However, the veteran slugger has not hit a home run over his last 10 games, a barren run that has seen Houston Astros slugger Yordan Alvarez overtake him as the leading home run getter this season.
Blue Jays win second consecutive game against Phillies after thrilling contest
After his solid defensive display in the top of the sixth inning, the Phillies scored four runs in the bottom frame to make it 4-2. However, the Blue Jays scored two runs in the eighth inning to tie the game.
The team were tied 5-5 after 10 innings before the Blue Jays scored the go-ahead run with outfielder Nathan Luke’s two-run home run in the 11th inning to secure a second consecutive win for the Blue Jays.
